Summary: I reported to the front desk that when I returned from being out, I noted my room door was closed but not locked. I always check after I've locked the door, so I know it was locked when I left. He said he would speak to the cleaner about it (who comes in late morning to empty the bin etc). It happened again another day and I reported it again and explained that when you close the door you must pull it tight (and you hear it click) and then lock with the key, otherwise "locking it" with the key does not actually lock it. He said he would look into it. Sadly it happened again another day. This was very disappointing. The front desk man apologised profusely, he was a nice person and very helpful generally. Apart from that issue, it was a pleasant stay and the hotel was in an excellent location, close to everything and right on the seafront. This is not a "modern" shiny spic-and-span hotel - most of the hotels along the promenade look fairly long in years, but it was clean and everything worked and it was quiet (apart from the seagulls doing their early morning rounds!) and so lovely to be directly across the road from the seafront.
